The Country Club of the South, Jack Nicklaus designed golf course combines unsurpassed natural beauty combined with one of the most challenging layouts in the area. Voted on of the "Top 20 Best Courses in Georgia" by Golf Digest, the 7,000/yard championship course host to the Champions Tour Nationwide Championship from 1991-1994. Lush pines and hardwoods, rolling hills, lakes, streams and granite outcroppings were preserved to provide spectacular natural hazards and scenery. The course was opened in 1987.

The second hole at The Country Club of the South is one that offers drama from tee to green. At only 370 yards from the tips it has a very demanding tee shot. You are left with a difficult decision as to whether to challenge the narrowing fairway with a driver or fairway wood to have a short approach or lay back with a long iron or hybrid to the designed landing area and flirt with the trees that guard the left side or the "signature" tree on the rock on the right. Once the daunting first shot is played, another thrilling shot presents itself to the player. With some good fortune players will have a clear view of the small well guarded green. A hazard protects the front and entire left side of the green complex, with a bunker on the right. There is a small bail out on the front right quadrant that can provide for some delicate pitch shots depending on the hole location. This hole played as one of the most difficult on the entire Champions Tour when the Nationwide event was held at The Country Club of the South. It continues to challenge our Membership with beauty and strategy.
